Bagwell Farm is easily accessible from the main road. As we drove onto the site, the very friendly reception staff were there to greet us with a useful information guide and a bag of treats for a very excited doggie! The guide detailed everything you need to know as a dog owner from dog friendly beaches and dog friendly walks through to vets nearby and the local pet shop.
There is a massive dog walking field on site and easy access to the coastal path. The warm water enclosed dog wash was amazing and totally free to use.
A nice touch was that we were asked if we would like to receive a newspaper - we did, and it was great to be able to pick it up from the shop each morning on the way back from an enjoyable walk with the dog.
For those that need to use the internet beware as the connection does dip in and out and makes it difficult to do that much online.

The Dog Friendly bits!
Dogtor Livingsbone rating : EXEMPAWRY
This long established family run fish and chip restaurant is situated on Weymouth harbour with stunning views of the harbour from their outside seating area. We enjoyed some delicious fish and chips with a glass of wine and some hot drinks. Luckily they had mackerel available so I enjoyed two tasty battered fillets with cheesy chips - well, it was Friday and I was enjoying my holiday! There are no heaters outside, so wrap up warm if visiting on a cold evening like we did. Dogs are welcome in their new outside area but not inside when coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

Overlooking Weymouth bay and Portland harbour, The Boat That Rocks was the perfect place to have a socially distanced catch up with friends. We all went for a coffee and the TBTR burgers - tempted by the fact that they were 10oz of beef with the challenge that we wouldn’t be able to lift our burger to eat it with just one hand - they were right! The burgers really were delicious and the accompanying chips were cooked to perfection! Due to coronavirus restrictions, we naturally, had to sit outside but, thankfully, the weather was on our side and we could sit for a few hours enjoying the company and the views - we were even treated to two chinook helicopters taking off and landing nearby!

Seven miles into our cycling trip to Portland, we came upon this perfect place to stop and refuel! Frontline Coffee is a firefighter run and owned coffee company roasting speciality coffees to support frontline charities. Their cafe had a terrific selection of sweet and savoury treats with an outside grill serving burgers, breakfast baps and hotdogs. We opted for a very tasty white chocolate cookie and a perfectly brewed flat white. It was great to support a worthwhile charity as Frontline Coffee has raised over £20,000 since 2018 - donating their profits to NHS, RNLI and Emergency Service Charities.

At Bagwell Farm they have a few guidelines that they ask you to follow with your canine friend. One of these is that your dog is not to be left unattended on the park at any time. If you are going out for the day and can’t take your dog with you then there are two kennels within 1.5 miles of the park that offer day boarding. Don’t forget to pack your dog’s vaccination certificate and your vet’s contact details.

We ran out of dog food so we visited the pet shop recommended by Bagwell Farm - The Pet Experience - and couldn’t have been more impressed. The staff were super knowledgeable and the choice was incredible. They stocked my doggie’s two favourite brands - Forthglade and Natures Menu - so I managed to get the dog food I needed. They also have an impressive selection of Kong toys, dog life jackets, pet camping and travel accessories, leads, collars and harnesses. We absolutely loved it here and will definitely be back….

We, thankfully, didn’t require the services of a vet during our stay but, if we had, then Dave Cumber was recommended by Bagwell Farm and he was located just across from The Pet Experience pet shop.
