Dog Friendly Places to go in Eastbourne

Eastbourne is quite dog-friendly with several cafés, parks and beaches welcoming dogs. Here are some of the top dog-friendly places in and around the Eastbourne area:


1. Eastbourne Beach


  • Location: Throughout the seafront
  • Overview: Dogs are welcome on certain sections of Eastbourne beach, particularly west of the pier and towards Holywell. Check for seasonal restrictions (often May to September), where specific areas may limit dog access.


Note: Always look out for signage about where dogs can or cannot go.


2. South Downs National Park


  • Location: Various access points around Eastbourne
  • Overview: The stunning South Downs are perfect for long walks with your dog. There are many trails that welcome dogs, including routes around Beachy Head, Seven Sisters, and Birling Gap.


Note: Make sure to keep your dog on a lead near livestock.


3. Gildredge Park & Manor Gardens


  • Location: Gildredge Road, Eastbourne
  • Overview: This large park is a favourite for dog walkers, with plenty of green space, shaded areas and a dog-friendly café, Love All Café. Manor Gardens, adjacent to the park, offers a more peaceful, landscaped garden area for a quieter stroll.


4. Princes Park


  • Location: Royal Parade, Eastbourne
  • Overview: A spacious park near the seafront, great for dog walks with plenty of open space, a lake and water features. It’s a short walk from the beach if you want to combine park and sea views.


5. The Pilot Inn


  • Location: Meads Street, Eastbourne
  • Overview: This dog-friendly pub welcomes dogs in both the bar and garden. They offer dog treats and water bowls, and it's situated close to the South Downs, perfect for a post-walk drink or meal.


6. The Lamb Inn


  • Location: High Street, Old Town, Eastbourne
  • Overview: One of Eastbourne's oldest pubs - The Lamb Inn, is very dog-friendly. Dogs are welcome throughout and the staff often provide water bowls and treats for visiting pups.


7. Sovereign Harbour


  • Location: North of Eastbourne seafront
  • Overview: The harbour area is a pleasant spot to walk your dog along the waterfront. Many of the cafés and pubs around the marina offer outdoor seating and welcome dogs, such as The Waterfront and Di Lieto’s Coffee Lounge.


8. Holywell Retreat


  • Location: Near Beachy Head
  • Overview: This secluded part of the Eastbourne coast is quieter and more relaxed. Dogs are welcome and the nearby Holywell Tea Chalet has dog-friendly outdoor seating - perfect after a walk along the cliffs.


Eastbourne offers a variety of spots where you and your dog can enjoy the outdoors and relax in cafés or pubs. Just make sure to follow any local guidelines for off-lead areas and restrictions in public spaces.
